Bobcat Soccer

Charger played his first soccer games as a Bobcat this morning.
Who knew we had to move to the Farm (that's really a Ranch) to get on a winning team??? Poor kid has never landed on a team that wins games -- until now. They won both games this morning 4-0 and 6-1.

Rocks

I have always loved rocks. I've always found a "special" rock as a memory when I travel.

Well, it seems my youngest has picked up on my passion, and the Farm (that's really a Ranch) is one of the best places to uncover nifty stones and fossils.

Throughout the years, when we've found especially unique stones, we leave them on the stone wall out in front of the house.

Charger was looking through the rock collection this afternoon and when I went out for a walk, this is what I found.

Can you see it? I love it!!!

Boots

Because of my fear of snakes on the Farm (that's really a Ranch), the boys got boots.

The boys now look like they've been here a while...and their ankles are safe from snakes!

Well, she just so happens to be the MAMA of the cutest calf on the ranch!

And what a good MAMA she is!

Fun in the Dirt

We bought a gocart a while back so that they kids could use it here. Well, it's never run well, especially on the rocky terrain here.

We finally took it to a mechanic this trip, and it's good as new now.

The boys set out first thing to make a gocart track on the North 40.

Only problem is...we need rain here just about as badly as in Texas.

You can see the license tag, but can you even see Viper standing beside the gocart???

They're having some good, filthy, STINKY fun!!!

Bonfire Blaze for the Neighbors

I promised a certain someone's husband pictures of the little ole burn we had when we first got here. Please note: we're cleaning out some nasty stuff from a moldy, musty basement...

Yep, you guys missed all the fun!

Greetings from the Farm (that's really a RANCH!)

Since my internet isn't cooperating here at the Farm that is really a Ranch, I thought I would take a chance and just post photos. If the internet continues to work, I'll try to add captions so they will even make some sense! :-)

This is Matt's calf - Sally Mae. She is now hand-fed and loves to be scratched.

This is one of many "mamas" - we named her Dunce Cap!

Bull, Mamas and Babies
The bull is the big lazy black one laying down on the job.

One points up and the other straight at ya!

The BEAR- SOOO FUN!!!

Playing at the Park

The boys and I stopped in Memphis on our way to Nashville and then onto Washington D.C.  My nephew and his wife live there, so we crashed with them for a night. THANKS GUYS!

I had planned to take the boys to Graceland - every kid needs to meet The King!!!  But, the timing just didn't work out.  We still had 3-4 hours to kill before heading to meet the hubster in Nashville though.

Shelby Farms had a new park that I had heard was great - the Woodland Discovery Playland. So, we headed there for the afternoon. My kids are getting a bit old for playgrounds, but this one looked like it might have activities for their ages.

It was GREAT!!!

Three Story Tower Slide

Huge pit for sliding and climbing.

The design was just so cool. They have all these circular "cages" which they will grow vines onto. They also serve to feed kids into the various play areas.

Huge area with kid-powered swings and rides.

And this great climbing area which went high and low - in and out!

What a cool park - even for big kids!

Still Blogging...

We're still here, promise. Since I can't seem to blog consistently, I'm going to try to at least post a few pictures here to save the memories of our days.

In May, we went to Washington D.C. and had a fabulous time.

Great weather+great attitudes=great trip!

What a great field trip to end our year of American History!!! Another reason to love homeschooling!!!

Broken...

Well, I guess I need to update!!!

We've had A LOT going on lately. We took a trip to Nashville and Washington, D.C. which involved a 25 hour straight drive home, we've updated the RV oh so much more, and my youngest...well...he's broken...

He and Viper were playing on the trampoline, and apparently they lost track of whose turn it was to jump into the middle. Both jumped in, backwards, and Vipers head slammed into Charger's arm and broke both bones.

Long story short - the ER told us he'd probably need surgery so to see an orthopedic doc ASAP. We saw the highly recommended doc the next day, were told he didn't need surgery, got the cast the next week, then learned that it was put on improperly.

Onto the next orthopedic doc who said that surgery was now indeed necessary, and we are scheduled for that next Tuesday. Hopefully, after that, we will be onto just what you expect -- break an arm, cast it, and get on with complaining about being stuck in a cast!
